Information and data literacy: What do you call a software needed to access the internet?
Chiave dell’EPSO C: A browser
Spiegazione. A browser is the program you use to open web pages. A modem is a piece of hardware that connects you to your provider. "Explorer" is a trap: Internet Explorer was a browser, but the word on its own names nothing.
Communication and collaboration: How can I automatically move all e-mails I receive from a certain address to a certain folder?
Chiave dell’EPSO A: Using a rule
Spiegazione. A rule runs on its own every time a matching message arrives. A quick step in Outlook also moves mail, but only when you click it, so it is not automatic.
Digital content creation: What file extension is NOT an image file?
Chiave dell’EPSO C: PST
Spiegazione. PST is the file Outlook uses to store emails, contacts and calendar items. PNG, BMP and JPEG are all image formats. Learn the common extensions, as EPSO tests them directly.
Safety: What is the purpose of a firewall?
Chiave dell’EPSO D: To protect a computer from unwanted communication
Spiegazione. A firewall filters the network traffic going in and out of a device or network. Deleting viruses and scanning downloads is the job of antivirus software, and blocking ads is the job of an ad blocker.
Problem solving: If I am using my smartphone on the street, which of the following technologies enable me to connect to the internet?
Chiave dell’EPSO B: 2g, 3g, 4g, 5g
Spiegazione. Away from Wi-Fi, a phone reaches the internet over the mobile network, which is what 2G to 5G are. Bluetooth Low Energy links nearby devices, such as a watch, and cloud computing and P2P are ways of using a connection, not ways of getting one.
